Jericoacoara, affectionately called Jeri, is originally a fishing village, located some 300km from Fortaleza, Capital of the state of Ceará, located in the northeast region of Brazil.
Considered one of the most beautifull beaches of Brazil, Jeri has a mix of incredible landscapes: dunes, lagoons with clear water, mangroves and deserted beaches. In the village all the streets are sandy and after dusk the village lights up with a myriad of small shops, bars and restaurants.
Jeri is one of the top windsurfing and kite surfing spots in the world due to the strong winds that blow between July and December, reaching 20 and 30 knots every day. By being located in the Environmental Preservation Area, everything works in perfect synchronism with nature.
The best way to get to Jeri is in 4x4 vehicles through trails, among ponds, dunes and beach.
Tips: The energy is 220v, Jeri has no bank branches and no 24h cash machines, only Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica and Bradesco express posts, however most shops, restaurants and bars accept credit cards,
The nearest Hospital, is at 100km distance from the village but there is a Emergency Health Station Unit (UPA), that can provide basic assistance for free.
Private vehicles can not circulate or park inside the village, they should be parked in the public parking lot at the entrance of the village, they provide transportation to all hotels 24h a day without additional cost.
